Teeth

The tooth pictured here was obtained from an individual who had been administered tetracycline at some point in their life. Tetracycline is an antibiotic that is known to cause staining in teeth, especially in children under 8 years of age. The staining will also show up in the skeletal system.


The tooth was mounted in epoxy, cut in half, and polished smooth to reveal the cross-sectional structure:
