- Director, Division of Endodontics
This advanced education program educates dentists for the specialized practice of endodontics. Residents receive intensive clinical training under close supervision of endodontists in the multidisciplinary Postgraduate Clinic in the School of Dental Medicine. Didactic courses cover biological sciences and a wide range of clinical topics related to endodontics. Integrated into the program are experiences in teaching and research. A thesis based on original research in clinical endodontics or related basic science is required. The program length is 24 months of full-time attendance beginning August 1st, the first year. Successful completion of the program leads to a Certificate of Proficiency in Endodontics and fulfills the educational requirements of the American Board of Endodontics. Students may combine endodontic training with study for a graduate degree such as an M.S. in Oral Sciences or a Ph.D. in Oral Biology. The combined programs entail a longer period of matriculation depending on the chosen graduate program.
The Advanced Program in Endodontics accepts 2 US or Canadian citizens and 1 International applicant to the program each year. The International applicant is required to be supported through scholarship by his/her government. Successful applicants are generally from the top 10% of their class though not exclusively. The selection committee reviews all aspects of an application before making any final decisions. National Board scores, Part I and/or II, are required. Standardized tests provide the ability for comparative review of applicants.
The Application deadline is August 15 (ex. August 15, 2009 for Fall 2010 admission).
