Patient Information

If you have a dental emergency and are calling after normal clinic hours, or on a weekend or holiday, please follow these instructions:

• If you are calling about a child who has a dental emergency, please call the Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo at 716-878-7000 and ask for the Dental Resident on call.
• If you are an adult in need of immediate dental care please call Buffalo General Hospital at 716-859-5600 or the Erie County Medical Center at 716-898-3000 and ask for the Dental Resident on call.

Please note that care in the emergency room is limited to the management of pain, swelling or trauma. Specific dental procedures such as fillings and extractions will NOT be performed.

Please also note that the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine is NOT responsible for any charges you incur while obtaining emergency dental treatment at any facility other than the dental school.
