Research Professor
Restorative Dentistry, Oral Biology

The 1980s was a really exciting time to be in Oral Biology in Buffalo.  Salivary research was emerging, which was my area, and many of the salivary proteins were being discovered and characterized.  But I think a strong point about our department is that it has really evolved along with the science. Our faculty are involved in cutting-edge type of science in diverse research areas.  For example, I think we’re recognized as leaders in studying the mechanisms in anti-fungal peptides right here in Buffalo.  We also have an emphasis on new areas of science, such as bioinformatics and bioengineering.  So we are very current in new areas of science here in Oral Biology.
