Research Profile
My research activities focus on the sialochemical and immunocytochemical aspects of human salivary glands. More specifically, the quantitation and in situ identification of various intrinsic salivary gland molecules. Quantitation of salivary molecules is achieved by enzyme-linked-immunosorbent-assays (ELISA) using site-specific reagents (monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies). These antibodies are also utilized for the cellular identification of salivary components in both normal and neoplastic salivary gland tissues. Avidin-Biotin-Complex (ABC) methodologies with antigen retrieval techniques are used to accomplish this objective.
